Daniel Simaotik

1907–1968

Daniel Simaotik (1907–1968) was a sculptor from Inukjuak (Port Harrison), Nunavik, Quebec. His carvings feature animals, Inuit figures engaged in daily activities, and busts.

Daniel’s work has been exhibited in exhibitions such as Inuit Masterworks at the Madrona Gallery, Victoria, in 2019. His carvings can also be found in many public collections, including the Canadian Museum of History, Gatineau, the Musée de la civilisation, Quebec City, the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, Banff, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, among others.
