Simon Qissualu Aliqu

1926–

Simon Qissualu Aliqu (1926– ) is an Inuit sculptor from Akulivik, Nunavik, Quebec. His stone sculptures illustrate detailed, dynamic scenes of arctic wildlife, family activities, Inuit stories, and mythologies.

Simon’s work has been exhibited across Canada in exhibitions such as The Inuit Sea Goddess at the Surrey Art Gallery, organized by the Musée des-beaux arts de Montreal to complement an exhibit by the same name in 1981. His work is also held in permanent collections across Canada, including at the Canadian Museum of History, Gatineau, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, the New Brunswick Museum, Saint John, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, among others.
