1936–2014

Robert Genn (1936–2014) was a Canadian landscape painter born in Victoria, BC who is most known for his portrayals of Canada. Glenn utilized patterns of colour and form to create his designs, working with acrylic, oil, and watercolour paint as well as lithography and silk screen printing.

Glenn trained as an artist at Victoria College, the University of British Columbia, and the Art Centre School in Los Angeles. He traveled to the United States, Europe, Central America, Asia, and throughout Canada to paint landscapes en plein air.

In 2006, sixteen of his paintings were featured in a retrospective exhibition at the Surrey Art Gallery in Surrey, British Columbia. He passed away in 2014, and was later remembered through an exhibition of sixty works in Robert Glenn (1936-2014): Honoring a Lifetime of Painting, which was coordinated between four galleries across Canada.
