Kania (attributed to)

Kania Etuangat (1927­– ), also spelled Kania Etungat, is a sculptor and graphic artist from Pangnirtung/Pannirtuq, a hamlet located on Qikiqtaaluk (Baffin Island), Nunavut. His stone carvings typically illustrate hunting scenes with additional details such as tools made from antlers and sinew.

His prints and sculptures have been exhibited in Canada, the United States, France, and Germany. Selected exhibitions include a solo exhibition titled Kania Etungat – Sculpture at Gallery Indigena in 1983 and L’art inuit presented by l’Iglou Art Esquimau, Douai, at Palais de L’Europe, Le Touquet, in 1991. Kania Etuangat’s work can also be found in a number of museum collections, including the National Museum of the American Indian, Washington, D.C., the Canadian Museum of History, Gatineau, the Glenbow Museum, Calgary, and the Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver, among others.
