Johnny Inukpuk, Jr.

1930–1984

Johnny Inukpuk Jr. (1930–1984) was a carver from Inukjuak (Port Harrison), Nunavik, Quebec. He mainly worked in soapstone carving, and his subjects included figures, animals, and scenes from daily life, such as hunting and family activities. Like many Inuit artists, Johnny Jr. was self-taught, likely drawing influence from his father, Johnnie Inookpuk, and his brothers Charlie and Daniel Inukpuk.

His carvings can be found in public and private collections, including at the Musée de la civilisation, Montreal, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Toronto Dominion Bank Collection, and the Canadian Guild of Crafts Quebec, Montreal, among others.
