Joe Fleming
Joe Fleming (1964–) is a contemporary Canadian visual artist and filmmaker. Based in Toronto, Fleming is associated with General Hardware Gallery. His artistic approach is characterized by a unique fusion of fictional narratives and personal experiences, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of sources including abstract expressionism and popular culture. Notably, his paintings incorporate sculptural elements, highlighting his exploration of form, texture, materiality, and the creative possibilities they offer.
Fleming’s work delves into the realm of personal introspection, skillfully combining flat imagery with expressive and textured painting techniques. His artistic process involves deconstructing visual elements into dot patterns and then transferring them onto abstract backgrounds.
