Jane Hinton
Jane Hinton (1936–2020) was a Canadian photographer whose black & white photographs were experimental in spirit. Born in Victoria, BC, and raised in Toronto, Hinton attended St. Martin’s College of Art in London to study drawing and painting. She later studied at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. Hinton’s familiarity with classical and contemporary art became the basis for her experiment with the camera and the development of her creative multi-framed images.
Hinton’s interest in bridges and nature took her with her camera to many countries throughout Europe and North America. Hinton has exhibited her photographs nationally and internationally, and they can be seen in myriad collections worldwide, including in Holland, Switzerland, Houston, Missouri, Boston, and Toronto.
