Giles Boisvert
Giles Boisvert (1940– ), born in Montréal, is a Canadian artist and sculptor. Boisvert inscribes social context and translates his ideas and emotions into gestural explorations on the surfaces. He works with engraving, lithography, photography, drawing, painting, film, installation, sculpture, and computer graphics.
Boisvert studied at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal from 1958 to 1960. He has spent periods of residence in Mexico, California, and Paris, and completed his training through various internships, most notably with Albert Dumouchel. In 1966, he participated in the group exhibition Présence des jeunes, at the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal. Boisvert has held over forty solo exhibitions in Canada and abroad, including the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. He has also created numerous public art projects, such as the Les oiseaux (1973), a mural measuring 27 m by 3 m at the Maison de Radio-Canada in Montréal.
Boisvert is one of the founding members of Atelier de l'Ïle located in Val-David, Québec.
