Francois-Seraphin Delpech

1778–1825

François-Séraphin Delpech (1778–1825) was a French artist and lithographer born in Paris, France. Few records remain about his early life. In 1818, at the age of forty, he opened a printmaking studio in Paris. Beginning in 1819, Delpech created numerous portraits of important figures of his time, including Napoleon Bonaparte’s family. Delpech was also an art critic for the literary magazine Mercure de France during the First French Empire

Delpech's work is held in collections around the world, including at the Art Institute of Chicago; Bibliothèque nationale de France; Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Musée de la Révolution Française; and National Portrait Gallery in London, England, among others.
