1912–1972

Elijassiapik (1912–1972), also known as Putuji Ekuiasi Qiirtuuq Elijassiapik, was an Inuit stone sculptor who lived in a camp north of Inukjuak (Port Harrison), Nunavik, Quebec. His brother Johnny Inukpuk and his three sons Harry, Siomeonie, and Eli Elijassiapik are all sculptors. Many of Elijassiapik’s subjects are representations of mothers and their children. His stone sculptures are often detailed with ivory insets.

His work can be found in the public collection at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, and the Canadian Guild of Crafts Quebec, Montreal, among others.
