Avis Rasmussen

1937–

Avis Rasmussen (1937- ) is a Canadian painter and printmaker born in Sidney, British Columbia. Rasmussen graduated from the University of Victoria and completed a residency in Italy. Rasmussen's artwork is inspired by her travels and she is best known for depicting the coasts and rivers of France, Italy, England, and the US.

Rasmussen studied alongside Pat Martin at The University of Victoria, where she obtained a Bachelor of Education in 1975 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking in 1979. In 1982, Rasmussen received a Masters of Education in Counseling and Art Curriculum, also from the University of Victoria. Rasmussen is an advocate for the arts community in Victoria and has served on the University of Victoria Alumni Board for several years.

Rasmussen has participated in international exhibitions in Pretoria, South Africa (2000), with the International School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in Montecastello di Vibio, Italy (2003), and Hastings, New Zealand (2006).
