Alfredo Buenaventura

1942–1982

Alfredo Buenaventura (1942–1982) was a Filipino painter from Bulacan, Philippines. Buenaventura briefly studied art at the University of Santo Tomás in Manila. Buenaventura was mentored by his uncle, Cesar Buenaventura, an Impressionist landscape painter at the peak of his career at the time of his mentorship.

Buenaventura was best known for using a spatula to create the Expressionist brushwork that distinguish his works. Buenaventura contrasted this technique with the subtle Impressionism he learned from his uncle.

Buenaventura's work has been collected extensively in private collections in the United States, Spain, and the Philippines.
