Peter Mah
Peter Mah (1946– ) is a Chinese Canadian artist and art educator living and working in Toronto who specializes in drawing and painting.
Mah graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto in 1970 before continuing his education with a post-graduate program at the Tyler School of Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia from 1971 to 1972. In 1973, Mah obtained an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. Following his studies, he took on teaching positions at the University of Guelph, the Toronto School of Fine Arts, and the Ontario College of Art and Design University where he currently teaches figurative drawing and painting. He is also an honorary professor at the Hubei Academy of Fine Arts in Wuhan, China.
His work has been exhibited in six solo exhibitions and over thirty-four group exhibitions internationally, such as Drawing Rediscovered, a group exhibition at the Saidye Beonfman Centre in Montreal in 1974 and at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto in 1976. His work is also represented in public and private collections in Canada, the United States, Italy, England, Hong Kong, and China. He is considered one of Canada’s drawing masters by the Drawing Society of Canada.
